Growing up, whenever there was a scholastic book fair, I would ask my family for some money so I could get a cool new book or something. And every year I was told it "wasn't in the budget" (totally fair,). Even though it made sense, I still felt a sense of unfairness that other kids in different tax brackets were able to buy all the books and kits and toys they wanted, but I never had enough for an eraser.
The only time I was able to get something from a book fair was in middle school, I have $10. The book I really wanted was $15/$20. If it weren't for the kind librarians, I never woulda gotten that book. If it weren't for the kindness of others I never would have been able to buy anything at those book fairs.
for the people doomblogging in the notes:
this isn't a "drop in the ocean fine" situation, 200 bil is already over half of his fortune lost... and he's not even done losing money yet! he's got a ton of lawsuits left to go through, owes Google money for trying to rent-dodge, destroyed Twitter's remaining brand value by rebranding to X, is playing lawsuit chicken with Microsoft as a direct result, and will have to pay off Twitter's debt... and shows no signs of even pausing to consider the stupidity of his decisions, especially as he's already plotting out loud to make a paypal alternative that breaks multiple international laws.
whatever he has left is nowhere near enough to cover the debt he's currently in and unless he somehow gets it forgiven or magically earns more than he's losing, there's a countdown over his head running down until the IRS personally comes after him.
unless his last remaining braincell wakes up and he hits the brakes, we might actually see someone speedrun going from richest man in the world straight to poverty, and you better believe i wanna see that :D
GO FOR THE FINISH LINE, MUSKY BOY!

Thought this could fit in well here
Ok I don’t mean to be doing this too often but I literally just wrote a paper about this so I thought I would comment! The English translation is The Cursed Woman but the original French is La Femme Damnée. “Femmes Damnées” was the title of a Baudelaire poem from his acclaimed 1857 book Fleurs du mal, which was known, among other things, to be a collection that famously dealt with the subject of lesbians. The poem tells the story of the desires and passionate love between two lesbians: Delphine and Hippolyte. As a result of this poem and of the book as a whole, the terms “fleurs du mal” and “femme damnée” became lesbian monikers of the turn of the century. Though some have deemed the term “damned women” to be accusatory of some moral dissonance, the poem it is derived from is actually quite sympathetic to the condition of lesbian love as it is a love which is unable to fully flourish in that time. Regardless, the translated title of Tassaert’s painting is misleading, as the original French is less accusatory and more identifying. The title is more accurately “the lesbian.”
And she’s doing fine
